What does it mean to be pet-free?

Connor Pet Health - we know that keeping our pets happy, healthy and engaged is extremely important part of all of our lives.

Pet-free is a term that has become more popular lately, with many people choosing to not have pets in their home. While you might think this means no dogs or cats, it can also apply to other animals as well.  Many people are now choosing to be pet-free because of the environmental impact they have on our world.  It can be hard to live without having an animal around but there are some ways you can still enjoy being around animals if you choose not to have one yourself!

Here are some Explanation what it Means to Live without Pets

First of all, you probably know that living with animals is not allowed in most housing units. If you live on-campus like I do, it’s pretty obvious why this is––pets are noisy and can mess up the flooring if they aren’t potty trained yet. But there are exceptions to every rule; some students still find ways to keep pets even though it’s against the rules. If you’re looking for tips on how to sneak a furry friend into your room or off-campus house without getting caught, then look elsewhere because this blog post isn’t about that. I’ve already given my opinion on whether it’s worth breaking the rules to have a pet so I won’t go back on that statement now!

If you don’t have a pet but are still thinking about getting one, then there are some other things to consider. You might think that dogs are the most common pets on campus, but cats actually take the cake when it comes to popularity! There are people in my hall who own both dogs and cats, but I’ve only seen two dogs with owners––and even then they were very well-contained in their owner’s rooms. Cats roam around all over the place, sometimes scaring unsuspecting passersby with their sneaky behavior. If you’re not comfortable being in close proximity to animals of any kind, then this option is probably not for you because pets will be everywhere.

Other reasons why living or near animals may not be the best option for you is because of allergies, cleanliness, and space. A lot of people on campus are allergic to cats, so if you’re one of them then this isn’t an ideal living situation. You might think that not having pets would mean that the flooring won’t get dirty, but you’d be surprised how much hair students lose throughout the year! Without pets, your floor will likely still accumulate pet hair over time just from other residents who do own one or multiple furry friends––even if they keep them contained! That’s why I prefer to live in a building where no one owns a pet; it means I don’t have to worry about losing my security deposit by leaving fur all over the carpeted areas of my room.

Finally, if you’re thinking about getting a pet but have no space for it in your room or house, then this probably isn’t the best option. Pets require a lot of attention and care so expect to be cleaning up after them often! It’s nearly impossible to live with a pet without leaving a mess behind at some point. If you don’t have any extra storage area in your living space, making room for a new family member can be quite difficult. Even if you do find ways to make more space though (i.e., under the bed), pets still need to interact with their owners frequently throughout the day––and that usually involves taking them out of their cages/rooms which is disruptive to anyone nearby. Overall, I would not recommend living near or with pets if you’re not interested in caring for them and don’t want to deal with the downsides of having one.

If you do decide to get a pet after all, then good luck with your new furry friend! Pets are great companions so I hope you enjoy spending time with it. Just be aware that they need as much attention as they require care––and that can be exhausting at times. So make sure that this is something you truly want before bringing one into your life. Your new family member will depend on you now; don’t let them down!
