How Often Should Dogs Be Bathed?

Connor Pet Health - we know that keeping our pets happy, healthy and engaged is extremely important part of all of our lives.

The frequency of dog bathing is really up to you. Some people bathe their dogs every day, because they have longer coats or are very dirty doggies that need frequent washing. Most dogs can be bathed around once a week unless they’re excessively dirty. If your dog has skin problems, allergies to fleas or any kind of infection, you should consider taking them to the vet for professional baths instead. Bath time should also change depending on the season; don’t bathe your pup during summer if she’s got open wounds or parasites!

Here are Some Tips on How to Keep your Dog Clean without too Much Hassle:

1. Bathing spray will help loosen dirt and dandruff first before applying shampoo

2. Wet your dog completely before applying shampoo

3. You don’t need to apply much shampoo for your dog to be clean! Just a little bit will do the job.

4. Use warm water and avoid letting it run down your dog’s face

5. Rinse thoroughly, including behind ears and in all crevices. It is important to wipe their face too after you are done with the bath, because eyes are sensitive areas that can get infected easily. Some dogs hate being wiped around their eyes, so if they squirm or try to scratch you, think about getting them used to this beforehand by using cotton balls wrapped around your finger.

6. Give them a treat after baths to make friends again! Dogs don’t like the smell of human shampoos very much, so they can get defensive when you want to bathe them. If they associate bathing with treats, it will make them behave better in the future!

7. Make sure their bed is out of direct sunlight, because heat is not good for dogs. A high fan should do the trick – just make sure there’s enough air flow around your pup.

How Often Should You Bathe Your Dog?

You should bathe your dog once a month. But some breeds need more frequent bathing than others. Dogs with short coats require less frequent shampooing, while long-haired dogs get dirty faster and their hair gets oily quickly, meaning they’ll need to be washed more frequently. Some dogs are naturally smelly too, so if your pet falls into this category then bath time will be even more important!

How To Wash Your Dog?

Dog shampoo is specially formulated for bathing them – human shampoos aren’t the best choice for pets because of the harsh chemicals included in them that can irritate sensitive skin on animals. When choosing a shampoo make sure it doesn’t contain any ingredients that could irritate your dog’s skin. Here are some great choices for your pup:

Keeping your dog clean isn’t just beneficial for your pet, it’s also good for you! If they smell bad the chances are you’ll start smelling bad too – especially if you’re an owner of a smelly breed like bulldogs, Irish setters or boxers. So make sure to keep them fresh and don’t forget about yourself too by cuddling up next to some lovely-smelling pup!
